Turners Dental Tips
Dr Chris Turner, MSc, BDS, MDS, FDSRCS, MAE qualified from the Royal Dental Hospital in London in 1968.
After working in general dental practice he undertook higher training at UCH and Newcastle before being appointed Senior Lecturer / Consultant to the School of Dental Surgery in Sheffield in 1980. There, he established from scratch, the Dental Practice Unit, which at the time was unique for any Dental School in that it was housed in a separate building from the main Dental Hospital. This unit continues to train final year dental students in the same building today.
His later career included working as Director of Dental Services and Postgraduate Dental Tutor in Salisbury, then having achieved recognition as a Specialist in Restorative Dentistry in referral practice in the Cotswolds together with giving many postgraduate hands on courses. His many publications are listed separately.
His inventions include colour coded pocket probes from 1972, several instruments, post crowns, portable phantom head units and latterly the Spacemark Dental interproximal brushing system to assist patients in achieving ideal, daily, plaque and periodontal disease control. He has over 20 years experience working as an expert witness.
Chris has now retired from clinical practice but retains an active interest in the world of dentistry.
His latest contributions are in the fields of ‘Prevention‘ and ‘Proof of Prevention‘.
